Geometry, Topology and Physics

Project leader: Rahul Pandharipande (ETH Zurich)

Geometry and physics are two inherently intertwined fundamental scientific disciplines. From optics to aerodynamics and relativity theory, their fruitful interaction gave birth to foundations of human knowledge. Geometry, Topology and Physics group consists of researchers working in modern and classical areas of geometry, such as numerative algebraic geometry, knot theory, deformation theory, tropical and symplectic geometry, which are linked to string theory, quantum field theory, classical mechanics, etc. on the physics side.
