ETH professor Renato Renner is one of the world’s leading theoreticians in quantum information science. He talks about the latest developments. Renato Renner’s group focuses on the question of how the processing and transmission of information relates to physical laws.
Hugo Duminil-Copin’s Zurich colloquium in mathematics online talk will take place on 16th February at 16:15 and will be entitled “Emerging symmetries in two-dimensional statistical physics”.
Securing an SNSF PRIMA grant is an important step on the road to a professorship. The career development of our member grantee Alba Grassi (UNIGE & CERN) is testimony to this: she has been appointed professor.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new SwissMAP Outreach Resources section on our website, with free online mathematics resources especially designed to reach out to the general public.
Every two years the Wright Colloquium brings fascinating subjects to the broader public in order to encourage a greater understanding of science. In 2020, the 19th Wright Colloquium “The Art of Maths” (2-6 Nov) was completely devoted to mathematics. Due to the unprecedented conditions this year, the event took an altogether very different format than in the previous years.
Corinna Ulcigrai (UZH) was recently elected as new member of the Italian National Academy of Science, the 'Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze detta dei XL'
In the AMS January 2021 Notices you can read about the upcoming ICMP 2021 and the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize awarded to our member Nina Holden. This prize was awarded to three early-career women whose work involves mathematical science.
Our members Alessio Figalli (ETH Zurich) and Hugo Duminil-Copin (UNIGE) will be plenary speakers at the AMS-EMS-SMF Joint International Meeting which will take place from July 5-9th 2021 in Grenoble.
