The call for 2023 events is open until September 30, 2021. Those interested in organizing an event for 2023 at the SwissMAP Research Station can apply by completing the proposal form available on the SwissMAP Research Station website. Evaluations of the proposals will be carried out by the Scientific Council. 
Our members Peter Hintz (ETH Zurich) and Corinna Ulcigrai (UZH) will be speakers at ICM 2022 (Saint Petersburg, 6-14th July). Peter Hintz will be an invited speaker in Section 5. Geometry, Section 10. Corinna Ulcigrai will be a speaker in Section 9. Dynamics. 
EMS Magazine article by our member Maryna Viazovska (EPFL) : Almost impossible E_8 and Leech lattices. "We start this short note by introducing two remarkable mathematical objects: the E_8 root lattice Λ_8 in 8-dimensional Euclidean space and the Leech lattice Λ_24 in 24-dimensional space. These two lattices stand out among their lattice sisters for several reasons." 
We are glad to announce that the official SwissMAP Research Station (SRS) Inauguration Ceremony successfully took place on Monday, during the first day of our SwissMAP Annual General Meeting in Les Diablerets. We would like to especially thank the speakers of the ceremony for making this inauguration possible. 
Several NCCR SwissMAP members were present and gave talks at this year’s 8th European Congress of Mathematics (ECM, 20-26th June). Some of their talks are now available online. 
The SwissMAP Innovator Prize Ceremony took place on Monday 13th September during the SwissMAP Annual General Meeting in Les Diablerets. Both prize recipients, Arthur Jacot (EPFL, C. Hongler's group) and Maria Yakerson (ETHZ, R. Pandharipande's group) gave a talk after the prize Ceremony. 
Our member Alberto Cattaneo (UZH) is part of a Simons collaboration since September 2021. The Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries is a group of physicists and mathematicians, working across disciplinary boundaries, to unlock the power of symmetry in its broadest, most general form. 
Alumna Yilin Wang (ETH Zurich, W. Wener's Group), currently at MIT, has been awarded the 2022 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize, for innovative and far-reaching work on the Loewner energy of planar curves. The prize is for women in mathematics who have completed their PhDs within the previous two years. 
Postdoctoral position in Mathematical Physics and String Theory at the Mathematics Department in A. Grassi’s Group at the University of Geneva. The successful candidate will join the group of Alba Grassi for two years, with the possibility of an extension for a third year. 
Our member Michele Maggiore (UNIGE) has informed us that his former PhD student Alessandra Buonanno was recently awarded the ICTP Dirac Medal, one of the most prestigious prizes in Theoretical Physics. Alessandra was a plenary speaker of the SwissMAP 100 years of General Relativity” colloquium. 
Congratulations to our member Ioan Manolescu (UniFR) who was recently awarded the 2021 Rollo Davidson Prize in recognition of his outstanding work on critical physical systems in two dimensions, particularly the random cluster and Potts models. 
To celebrate its 10th anniversary Agora, the funding instrument of the SNSF dedicated to science communication, is organizing a one-day forum for scientists. It will take place in Fribourg on 3rd September 2021 and will be dedicated to the best practices for successful Agora grant writing. 
Our Director Stanislav Smirnov (UNIGE) is amongst the invited speakers of “Mathematics without borders: The Centennial of the International Mathematical Union” at the Palais Universitaire in Strasbourg. 
The exhibition "Dive into the infinite world of fractals" in Geneva, invited young and old to discover fractals and to participate in the construction of a level 3 Menger sponge. Created from scratch by Sandie Moody and Elise Raphael, the exhibition, which attracted more than 2,200 visitors was originally inspired by a similar project in England. A week before the exhibition ended, we interviewed Sandie Moody. 
A team of five mathematicians, including SwissMAP members: Hugo Duminil-Copin (UNIGE), Dmitry Krachun (UNIGE) and Ioan Manolescu (UNIFR) have shown that at critical moments, a symmetry called rotational invariance is a universal property across many physical systems. 
On the occasion of ICMP 2021, we have reassembled our two exhibitions in order to present them to the congress participants. Both exhibitions are also available online. 
Congratulations to Stefanos Aretakis (University of Toronto) and SwissMAP members Chiara Saffirio (UniBas) and Vincent Tassion (ETH Zurich), recipients of the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize announced at the ICMP 2021 opening ceremony.

We are glad to announce that the André Lichnerowicz Prizes for Poisson Geometry 2020/2021 were awarded at the Global Poisson webinar on the 27th of May 2021. The laureates of the 2020/2021 edition are Pavel Safronov (University of Edinburgh) and Xiaomeng Xu (Peking University), both SwissMAP alumni. 
The Summer School on Quantum Thermodynamics will be taking place in Les Diablerets. 
The next SwissMAP Annual General Meeting will take place in Les Diablerets from 12-15 September 2021. More information will be available nearer the date 
The conference has been postponed to 2022, (previous dates: 22-25 June 2020 and 7-10 June 2021). This conference will bring together students and close collaborators of Jean-Pierre Eckmann on the occasion of his 50 years at the University of Geneva.
