Mentoring Program

The SwissMAP mentoring program offers our PhDs and Postdoc members impartial confidential support and advice. We understand that PhDs and Postdocs can be presented with difficult decisions and mentoring can greatly influence a researcher’s experience and future career. This Program is there to support our PhD and Postdoc SwissMAP members and to give them access to the knowledge, skills and expertise of our more senior SwissMAP participants who volunteered as mentors.

Mentors will help in identifying issues of concern, in setting goals and in exploring different options to help the researcher to find their own path. Mentors are advised to encourage through active listening and to help find solutions, strategies and action plans, giving guidance on ways to develop the researchers strengths. Examples of some issues which could be addressed include career advice, reconciling work and family, and child care matters.

Our PhD and Postdoc members have been invited to read, through our internal website, the profile of our participant Professors and to contact a mentor of their choice.
