Emergent Geometries from Strings and Quantum Fields

27 Jan 2020

Our member Alberto Cattaneo (UZH) is in the organising committee of the Emergent Geometries from Strings and Quantum Fields workshop, (30.03 - 08.05.2020) at the Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics in Italy.

The workshop gathers experts on the main geometric structures emerging from string and field theories, in particular: Poisson geometry, noncommutative geometries, generalized geometries and open/closed string inspired (non)geometries, complex and Kaehler geometry, algebraic and super geometry, 3d quantum geometries.

It aims at further interconnecting these researches thus paving the way to physical applications. Topological field theories, T- and U-dualities, supersymmetric field theories, superstrings, string field theory is a non-exhaustive list of topics where these new geometric tools emerged and inspired new directions.

The expected outcome is a deeper understanding of the relations between geometry and physics, and ultimately advancements in the quantum structure of spacetime emerging from theories of fields and strings... Read more
