Our member Alessio Figalli, Uncle Scrooge and the Four-dimensional Corkscrew

6 Dec 2019

Our member Alessio Figalli (ETH Zurich) has supervised the Disney sci-fi adventure entitled “Uncle Scrooge and the Four-dimensional Corkscrew”, published on the 30th October 2019 in the Italian Mickey Mouse comic strip #3336.

The adventure, written and adapted by Francesco Artibani and drawn by Paolo Mottura, is set in the Donald Duck universe, where the Duckburg mathematician Phil Gallis, Disney alter ego of A. Figalli, helps Scrooge McDuck to recover his mysteriously stolen holdings.

Part of the series Mickey Mouse Comics & Science, the story pays homage to the creativity of mathematicians while imaginatively introducing kids to the charms of the mathematics of spacetime and optimal transport.
