New PhD Members : Yannis Möckli, Nikolai Perry & Jesse Woods

8 Oct 2025

Yannis works on the mathematical framework of scattering amplitudes in QFT and String Theory in the group of Prof. Niklas Beisert and Dr. Johannes Broedel. His research interests are centered around special functions on complex manifolds and their various links to theoretical physics and pure mathematics.

Nikolai graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2024. His master's thesis, supervised by Pavel Safronov, studied categorical approaches to invariants of low-dimensional topology. He now works under supervision of Anton Alekseev, specialising in quantum algebra and symplectic geometry.

Jesse is currently working on the Large Charge expansion applied to gauge theory, with the goal of better understanding strongly coupled systems. His main interests are gauge theory, confinement, and the interplay of geometry and topology in physics with particular emphasis on monopoles and instantons. He is also intrigued by the connections between gauge-invariant observables, topological sectors, the Gribov problem, and the memory effect. His prior work has addressed entanglement entropy in gauge theory, solvable irrelevant deformations (TTBar), and supersymmetry and supergravity in various dimensions.
