Research interests: One of his main interests is generalized complex and Kahler geometry as developed by Hitchin in the 2000s. Another is the theory of groupoids and Morita equivalences, with applications to noncommutative geometry. Currently his focus is on the geometry of supersymmetric sigma models. He is also beginning a project on discrete geometry, for example the theory of discrete complex surfaces.
During his visit, Marco was a speaker at the SwissMAP Winter school, attended the From Coadjoint Orbits to Black Holes, and co-organised the Differentiable stacks conference at the SRS.
