Workshop: Entropy and dimension sur Arve

Dec 1, 2015 – Dec 4, 2015
UNIGE, Physique, room 234 Quai Ernest-Ansermet 24, Geneva, Switzerland
#

Neil Dobbs and Nicolae Mihalache are organising a small workshop in collaboration with SwissMAP which will take place at the Theoretical Physics Department of UNIGE, from the 1st to the 4th of December.

The workshop is focused on questions relating to thermodynamic formalism and parametric dependence in dynamical systems (including dependence of entropy, equilibrium states and dimension on parameters). There will be series of afternoon talks, leaving the majority of the time dedicated to discussion, in-depth exposition and future progress. We hope to instigate international collaboration between local and visiting researchers.

Program:

Wednesday 2nd:

  • 2pm: Jacek Graczyk (Paris-Sud Orsay), Fine structure of the Mandelbrot set.
  • 3.30pm: Liviana Palmisano (IMPAN Warsaw), Ergodic properties of bimodal circle endomorphisms

Thursday 3rd:

  • 12pm Group lunch
  • 2pm: Nicolae Mihalache (Paris-Est Creteil, Geneva), Diabolical Entropy I
  • 3.30pm: Neil Dobbs (Geneva), Diabolical Entropy II

Friday 4th:

  • 2pm: Magnus Aspenberg (Lund), Semi-hyperbolic dynamics
  • 3.30pm: Michael Benedicks, TBA
  • 7pm: Group dinner

All talks will be held in room #234 (top floor) of the Physics department at UNIGE. Please visit the website for registration and more details.
