Moulinette

moulinette.jpgLa Moulinette - Chop up your scientific mediation project! (FR)

The current health crisis is forcing us to rethink the way we present science, it is shaking up our habits and forcing us to reinvent ourselves. With the temporary closure of many museums and mediation centres, two options are emerging for mediators. Some use this momentary pause to take a step back and reflect in depth on their practices, to bring their activities up to date and eventually pull out of the drawer one of those thousand projects that they never had the time to put in place. Others, on the other hand, must quickly propose content in a new form in order to continue to be visible and present. In both cases, La Moulinette can help them!

La Moulinette is a tool that allows for in-depth questioning of a scientific mediation project. In the form of thematic sheets it invites you to reflect and position yourself using graphs on the real goals of the project. The themes are defined by questions: from why? or for whom? to how much? or, what is the risks? Going through "my project in the negative" identifying the project's potential weaknesses and proposing a certain number of precise questions to reflect on the project.

La Moulinette adapts to the needs of the mediators. Indeed, it is not necessary to answer all the questions asked, only the most relevant for the project can be selected. For example, if one wishes to take a step back, the themes For whom?, What?, How? and "My project in the negative" may be relevant. If, on the other hand, you want to develop a new project, you should choose the themes Why, Who, When, With how much, At what risks and "My project in negative".

It is precisely with these six themes that at Mathscope we are currently shaping our project for a new exhibition.

The result of long and rich discussion sessions in which our Outreach Officer Shaula Fiorelli participated for the Scienscope, the Moulinette was developed by actors of scientific mediation at the initiative of the Réseau Romand Science & cité.
